Introduction

QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd is a food and beverage group based in Malaysia, specialising in quick-service restaurant operations with outlets spanning multiple markets. The Group manages well-known food brands and serves diverse consumer segments across the region.

The Group’s 2024 Sustainability Report marks a step in communicating its refreshed approach to environmental stewardship, workforce development and community investment. The report needed to present ESG data in a readable format while reflecting QSR Brands’ renewed focus on responsible business practices.

Walk Production was appointed to handle the ESG sustainability report design for this publication. The scope covered concept development through to final print delivery, including data visualisation and bilingual layout considerations.

Our Solutions

Conceptual development and report framework

The team began by working with QSR Brands’ sustainability team to shape the report’s narrative arc. The concept needed to tie together multiple pillars, including environmental resilience, social investment and governance improvements, under one cohesive theme aligned with the Group’s revised direction.

The framework organised content around four material areas. That lets readers follow QSR’s sustainability progress in a structured progression. Each chapter opens with headline metrics before moving into detailed commentary. The rhythm keeps stakeholders moving through the document.

Visual and layout design

The visual direction drew from QSR’s corporate palette while introducing organic textures and gradient treatments that signal environmental awareness. Page layouts were designed to handle bilingual content and GRI index references without appearing cluttered or overly technical.

The graphic design team created distinct section identities using colour-coded chapter markers and typographic hierarchy. Pull quotes, sidebars and case study panels break up lengthy disclosure sections so readers can locate relevant information quickly across the full report.

Infographic design and print production

Performance data, from carbon emissions tracking to supply chain traceability metrics, was translated into infographic visuals that communicate trends at a glance. Custom chart styles maintain consistency across the report while accommodating different data types.

The print-ready files were prepared to commercial printing specifications. Colour proofing and pre-press checks were completed before the production run. Final delivery included both digital and printed editions distributed to key stakeholders and regulatory bodies.

The Results

The completed Sustainability Report 2024 gives QSR Brands a disclosure document that communicates its revised ESG direction. The publication aligns with GRI Standards and supports the Group’s transparency commitments to investors, regulators and industry partners.

Stakeholders now have a clear reference point for QSR’s sustainability performance. Data is presented in formats that support both detailed review and high-level scanning, making the report practical for diverse reader needs.

Why did QSR Brands restructure the report around four material areas?

A QSR group operates across a multi-segment value chain, which means sustainability content can sprawl if it tracks every operational pillar separately. Organising the report around four material areas gives readers a structured progression rather than a chapter list. Each area carries headline metrics first, then detailed commentary, so readers can follow QSR’s direction without losing the thread between sections.

What sits inside the QSR Brands sustainability report scope?

Conceptual development, visual and layout design, infographic design, plus printing and delivery. Walk Production delivered the report end-to-end so QSR’s sustainability team could focus on the editorial content and the disclosure rather than coordinating the publication across multiple suppliers under the reporting calendar.

Why does the QSR Brands report align with GRI Standards?

GRI is the disclosure framework most listed groups in QSR’s category use. Aligning with GRI gives investors, regulators and industry partners a familiar structure to read the report against, and it supports QSR’s transparency commitments. The visual design holds the framework requirements without making the document feel purely technical.

How does the QSR Brands report handle bilingual content within the layout?

Page layouts were designed to handle bilingual content without appearing cluttered or overly technical. Grid systems accommodate the additional text density that bilingual disclosure introduces, and typographic hierarchy keeps both language versions readable. The result is one publication that serves multiple language audiences without splitting into parallel documents.

Why pair infographics with detailed text in the QSR Brands report?

Sustainability data can be read at two depths. Infographics surface the trends at a glance for stakeholders scanning the report. Detailed text and case study panels carry the underlying disclosure for stakeholders working through the document for analysis. Pairing the two lets the same report serve both readings without forcing one audience to do the other audience’s work.
